I am an experienced supervisor and have supervised a range of qualified therapists as well as arts practitioners working in social practice. I offer supervision to registered therapists and draw particularly on my training in systemic practice in supervision.
Supervision for social practice artists
I have a particular interest in the use of the arts and creative practice as a therapeutic tool and a way to bring people together and draw on the strength of the community to support itself. I see artists and psychologists as having a common goal – to find ways to help people think differently about their lives and the world around them. I enjoy providing supervisory space for artists working in social practice. This can include:
- Reflective space to consider the impact of working with vulnerable people
- Space to get advice specific questions or issues about working with vulnerable adults from someone with a wealth of experience working in mental health services
- Space for sharing useful information or reading material
- Space to develop ideas and ways to engage clients with mental health issues, learning disabilities or dementia in creative practice
- Space to bring any concerns regarding safeguarding or risk issues
- Space to reflect on the process of making work which is personally meaningful
